What is Poor Nutrition?

Poor nutrition includes either under or over eating, not eating nutritionally rich foods, eating too much of one type of food or drink, not getting enough fibre and over consuming fats, salts and sugars.

In the short term poor nutrition can lead to feeling stress, tired, sluggish, and bloated. Poor nutrition over the long term can cause weight gain, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and stroke, type-2 diabetes, some cancers, osteoporosis, depression, and eating disorders.

Sensible Nutrition

Some telling signs of poor nutrition include:

  • Feeling tired all the time
  • Dry hair and thin brittle nails
  • Dental problems
  • Low mood
  • Constipation and bowel discomfort
  • Bruising easily and slow recovery from injury
  • Slow immune response
